Elizabeth Township encompasses 23 square miles and sits between the shores of the Youghiogheny and Monongahela Rivers. The Township of Elizabeth has a population of about fourteen thousand. Located in the southeastern section of Allegheny County, Elizabeth Township is made up of small villages to include Boston, Greenock, Buena Vista, Industry, Blythedale, Blaine Hill, Mt. Vernon, Victory, and Central. Elizabeth Township is home to the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. The trail has slight grades, a smooth surface, and follows the scenic landscape along the Youghiogheny River and the former Pittsburgh and Lake Erie (P&LE) Railroad. The trail offers visitors of all ages and levels of physical ability a safe area to walk, jog, cross country ski, or bicycle. Encompassing 1,101 acres in Elizabeth Township, Round Hill Park features an exhibition farm with animals that is open every day of year. Other amenities include soccer fields, shelters, a spray park, and walking and bridle trails. Elizabeth Twp. has six schools that make up the Elizabeth Forward School District. Elizabeth Forward High School, Elizabeth Forward middle School, Central, Greenock, Mt. Vernon, and William Penn Elementary Schools.
