The Borough of Baldwin has a population just under 20,000 and is located in the South Hills of Allegheny County, Just a few miles away from the city, it makes for a quick commute for anyone employed downtown. Baldwin has 1.6 miles of frontage on the Monongahela River, one of the world's most heavily used waterways. Baldwin has a few parks, Sanda, McAnnulty Park, and the biggest of them being Elm Leaf Park where you will find a pool, ballfields, batting cages, a basketball court, and a pavilion. There are additional baseball fields at Leland Fields. The Baldwin-Whitehall School District is committed to the promotion of excellence through a system of traditional values, a quality educational program, and a world of opportunities. It is a suburban, residential school district serving students from the Baldwin and Whitehall Communities. The District encompasses a wide range of educational, occupational, economical, and cultural backgrounds. The five district schools are Baldwin High School, J.E. Harrison Middle School, McAnnulty Elementary, W.R. Paynter Elementary, and Whitehall Elementary. These schools provide an array of educational opportunities to serve the needs of the community. Baldwin is also home to the Baldwin Public Library Baldwin provides very competent emergency services. Baldwin E.M.S. exists to provide twenty-four (24) hour emergency medical care and medically directed rescue services to the citizens and visitors of the Boroughs of Baldwin, Pleasant Hills, West Mifflin and Whitaker as well as surrounding communities when requested.
